CDA Credentialing Program

The Child Development Associate (CDA) Course meets the 120 hours of professional education required by the Council for Professional Recognition in order to obtain the National CDA Credential for Infant-Toddler Education.

Class Session Overview

This is an 8-week accelerated program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to pass the CDA Exam and CDA Verification Visit.  Our program provides participants with expert guidance and one-on-one support to successfully complete the CDA Professional Portfolio. Several courses within this program require observation, assessment, and practical application of learning principles in an early childhood learning environment. Students must be working in or have access to an early childhood environment to successfully complete these courses.

Week 1

During this session participants will review the CDA credentialing process, components of the CDA professional portfolio. Participants will discuss how to develop their professional teaching philosophy and learn about 7 major child development theories.

Week 2

During this session participants will discuss how to provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries. They will also explain how to promote good health and nutrition and provides an environment that contributes to the prevention of illness.
Participants will describe how they use space, relationships, materials and routines as resources for constructing an interesting, secure, and enjoyable environment that encourages play, exploration, and learning.
